The Future Talent Campaign

The Surveying Industry

is currently grappling with a significant skills gap that jeopardises the future of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The recent RICS Construction and Infrastructure Market Survey indicates a pressing issue: 66% of respondents in the UK reported shortages of quantity surveyors, and 54% noted a lack of other construction professionals. Compounding this problem is the aging workforce, with approximately 30% of surveyors aged over 50.

Moreover, the profession lacks diversity, with only:

  1. 1% of RICS Partners and Directors are from the ethnic minority community.
  2. 16% of RICS members are women
  3. 1.9% of RICS members are from the ethnic minority community
  4. 0.6% of RICS fellow members are from the ethnic minority community
